古本業界で構成している草野球チームに参加する。
それにしても、どうして草野球って言うんだろう。
芝生ではなく、草の上で野球をしているからなのだろうか。
それとも二日酔いでも楽しくできる、息が酒臭い野球で臭野球。
んなアホな。
そんなくだらないことを考えながら、ベンチの前にどっかり座ってボーッと打順を待つのが好きである。
守備は野球に集中する内野も好きだが、小さく見えるピッチャーやバッターを見ているうちにそのまま目線が上に行き、いつのまにか空を眺めている外野も好きである。
しかし、ボーッとしているので打球が飛んできても最初の一歩が遅くなり、イシコはいつもボールに追いつけなくなるのである。
そんな草野球が僕は大好きである。
午後、編集の内海氏と会う。
ワインを飲みながら、現在、進めている問題の本の打合せ。
本のコンテンツとして商品になるにしろ、ならないにしろ、企画書ではなく、創ってしまってから判断してもらうしかないというのが二人の共通認識。
全てを書き上げ、スタッフに見せられるまで、果たしてみんなは待ってくれるのだろうか。
とにかく余計なことは考えず、出来る限りの時間を本に費やそう。
そして、ホワイトマンでやりたいことは全てやりつくそう。
こんなに素敵な助っ人がたくさん居るのだから。
そんな思いを胸に夜、宇都宮に移動する。
ホテルでゆったりお風呂に入った後、宇都宮で企画会社を営んでいる大沼氏と飲みに行く。
今、大沼氏はモンゴルにはまっているそうだ。
イシコも昨年、モンゴルに行っているので、生ビールを飲みながら、ウランバートルな夜は更けていくのであった。
